Weekend picks: Oktoberfest and country stars

It's still September and fall is another week away, but you can have October in your hearts this weekend.

🍻 Our pick: Columbus Oktoberfest.

What's to expect: Presented by the legendary Schmidt's, Oktoberfest takes over the Ohio Expo Center for a celebration of Columbus' German heritage.

  • There's live music, the strongman "Gemütlichkeit Games," dancers, food, an arts and crafts marketplace and activities for kids.
  • And, of course, plenty of beer.
  • 🎉 It's the 60th anniversary of the celebration.

  • It was saved in 2009 by a partnership between the Schmidt family and the Expo Center after the German Village Society canceled the old version of the event.
  • If you go: 5pm-midnight Friday, noon-midnight Saturday, noon-8pm Sunday.

  • Entry is free, but on-site parking is $15.
  • What else is happening:
