Buzz-worthy tires: Goodyear rolls into "Toy Story 5"

Goodyear Tires is going to infinity and beyond.

State of play: The Akron-based company got in on the hoopla for "Toy Story 5," which arrives in theaters this week, by providing tires for three Porsche 911 cars inspired by the film.

  • The one-of-one cars are styled after characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. They debuted during a red carpet premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on June 9.
  • Zoom in: Each car sports Goodyear tires, but the Buzz Lightyear vehicle features "Lightyear" tires with custom lettering.

The intrigue: Goodyear is actually going to the moon in 2028.

  • That's when the company will begin providing tires for the Lunar Outpost's Pegasus Lunar Terrain Vehicle as part of NASA's Artemis program.
  • What's next: The "Toy Story 5" cars will be auctioned off, with proceeds supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the American Red Cross and Starlight Children's Foundation.
