    No Knife Chicken & Waffles

    A new brunch restaurant from rapper DaBaby opening in north Charlotte.

    Opening: Mid-July.

    The vibe: The restaurant is expected to have a fast-casual concept with an upscale diner feel. The menu is still being developed by DaBaby, but it will include chicken and waffles. Inside, there will be booth and bar seating and eventually a patio space.

    Sweet July Cafe

    Songbirds

    A wine bar catering to independent artists and music lovers in University City.

    Opening: End of July.

    The vibe: A former "American Idol" contestant is opening this spot to offer a space for artists to perform and have resources to help launch their musical careers. Expect DJs, live music and a selection of wines from Black-owned brands in the evening. By day, you'll find coffee and pastries.

    Raíces

    A Mexican-inspired restaurant taking over the former Summerbird space in South End.

    Opening: Summer.

    The vibe: The restaurant led by South Carolina restaurateurs Alfonso Bravo and Amalia Macias will bring a taste of Oaxaca through traditional techniques and small plates. Expect handmade tortillas, mole recipes, authentic pozole, and a selection of campo-style dishes, plus featured seasonal produce and meats from local family farms. A drinks menu will feature agave-focused cocktails inspired by the bars of Mexico City.

    Lady Funari

    An Italian pasta bar in South End in the former Futo Buta space.

    Opening: End of summer.

    The vibe: Expect a warm, moody interior with a chef's window and chef's table open to the dining room. Its patio will face the Rail Trail. The menu will feature seasonal pasta dishes plus Negroni- and amaro-forward cocktails.

    The vibe: The 1903 Charlotte building is getting a second life as a four-story restaurant, with floors including a parlor-style space, a fine-dining experience on the second level and a solarium.

    A new food hall opening at Savona Mill in west Charlotte.
