Don't skip brunch at Tampa's Con Amor

While looking for a Seminole Heights brunch spot to kick off wedding-dress shopping with family, I came across new-ish modern Mexican restaurant Con Amor.

The intrigue: The menu had my mouth watering — chilaquiles and huevos rancheros are some of my favorite breakfast dishes.

  • Plus, the restaurant makes tortillas from scratch by soaking corn using an ancient process called nixtamalization, then grinding it into a dough called masa.
  • Dig in: The food delivered. The chilaquiles ($19) were smoky and topped with goat cheese, a flavorful twist.

  • My mom got the rancheros ($11) and loved them.
  • And be sure to get the chips and salsa ($10), which comes with tomatillo, pineapple and house varieties. The pineapple was my fave.
  • I only wish I'd gotten to try the masa Benedict and tres leches French toast. Guess I'll have to go back!
