New York's Krave It Pizza brings wild pies to Longmont

A little bit of Queens has landed in Longmont, with New York-born Krave It Pizza & Sandwich Joint now slinging its unusual pies.

The big picture: Krave It joins a growing Longmont pizza scene that's coming off a well-attended, to the point of overwhelm, pizza festival.

The vibe: Krave It specializes in what I refer to as "stoner pizza," a style Coloradans may be familiar with from slices at Boss Lady Pizza in Superior and the former Ian's in Denver. Stoner pizza is what you get when someone with a case of the munchies designs a pie at 2am:

  • Cheesesteak pizza? Sure.
  • Chinese food pizza? Why not.
  • Pasta on pizza? Who's counting carbs.
  • Among Krave It's more unusual offerings are the Desi Boy, with Indian-spiced fried chicken and tikka masala aioli; the China King, topped with General Tso-style chicken; and the Biggie Mac, essentially a cheeseburger turned into a pizza.

What to expect: Specialty slices generally run about $6, while 12-inch pies sit between $18 and $24.

  • Sandwiches, wings, loaded fries and fried Oreos round out the menu.
  • Pro tip: The $10 lunch special gets you two slices and a drink.
  • If you go: Krave It is at 589 S. Hover St., Suite 100, and is open from 11am–11:45pm daily.
