Map: How and where to vote early in 2026

It's not just Election Day. You'll have more than a couple of weeks to cast your ballot (and very little excuse) in the 2026 midterms during early voting, Oct. 15 through Halloween, Oct. 31.

Why it matters: Early voting is a fast, drop-in option to squeeze into your schedule, with 25 locations to choose from in Mecklenburg County.

  • On Election Day, Nov. 3, you can only vote at your assigned polling place, and you must already be registered.
  • How it works: Just show up at any early polling place in the county where you live. Workers and signs will guide you through the voting process and point you in the right direction.

  • You can also register to vote the same day with proof of residence if you still need to (but only during early voting!).
  • It usually takes about 15 minutes, and lines are typically short or nonexistent.
  • Remember to bring your North Carolina driver's license or another form of acceptable ID.
  • If you cannot show ID, you can fill out an exception form at the polls and still cast a ballot.
  • When to vote early: The Mecklenburg County polls are open for early voting, starting Thursday, Oct. 15 until Saturday, Oct. 31 at 3pm.

  • Weekdays: 8am-7:30pm
  • Saturdays: 8am-3pm
  • Sundays: 1-5pm
